Deepstep was first settled in 1790 and named for a Native American legend. It is one of the oldest cities in the U.S.  and shares a tradition of strong community ties. Most families have been there for generations, thriving off of the Kaolin industry.  Even earning Deepstep the title “The Heart of Kaolin.”

Some History

Deepstep incorporated in 1900, electing thier first mayor and council and later erecting the present town hall and public library in 1903.

-1966: Deepstep installed a city water system

-1972: estabished a volunteer fire department
